All tree work we carry out is done so in a safe and professional manner using the correct and recommended techniques by insured, qualified and trained members of our team. We use a range of equipment and tools to complete any of the tree work we undertake this ensures we complete the task efficiently and with minimal disturbance.

We work in compliance with the rules and regulations of conservation areas and take advice, working with local council’s when trees covered by preservation orders (known as TPO’s) are involved with our work. The paperwork we require is available on the local council’s websites and we are also happy to complete this paper on behalf of our clients providing it has been agreed that we are carrying out the proposed work

As our work is constantly in high risk environments we carry out a thorough risk assessment before any work commences and where the risks cannot be removed they are reduced a satisfactory level.

All of our waste materials are recycled with wood of a large enough diameter and quality being turned into firewood or processed into construction timber and furniture. Smaller diameter wood is turned into woodchip and used for biomass or treated and turned into soil conditioning products

Pruning is a tree maintenance procedure that is carried out for their safety, health and aesthetics. At C Methven Arb we prune all trees with an understanding of how the tree will respond to each cut we make and improper pruning will cause damage to the tree. This damage will last for the lifetime of the tree and could shorten the life of the tree.

Various species of tree require different treatment to ensure there longevity this could be by pollarding the tree or by reducing, thinning or lifting of the crown.

Felling a tree completely can occasionally be required and for a few reasons. This could be due to disease, in order to control the spread of disease we will remove the tree helping to stop contamination to any neighbouring trees. Or because the disease has caused decay and seriously weakened the tree causing it to be dangerous to surrounding people or property. *Please not some diseases cause damage to root systems first and the tree may not show many signs of decay in the canopy even if its overall health is in heavy decline.              Sometimes trees are to be removed due to planning and construction projects as the tree position would not be suitable for the new buildings surrounding it. In this case we strongly advice replacing it but in a suitable place and with a recommended species to ensure the longevity of its life.

Felling a tree does not always mean using the traditional method of cutting at the base. Often due to space and restricted access sectional felling is the only option, this is where the tree will be climbed and dismantled in a safe and controlled way. This is to ensure the safety of the environment, personal property, and ourselves.
